What is DSMES?
Diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) programs provide personalized care and guidance to help you effectively manage your diabetes. Through a DSMES program, you will work with a diabetes education specialist to develop the skills needed to integrate diabetes care into your daily routine and master the seven key self-care behaviors for living well with diabetes:
- Healthy eating
- Being active
- Taking medicine as prescribed
- Monitoring your blood sugar levels
- Reducing risks of diabetes complications
- Healthy coping with diabetes
- Problem-solving strategies

What is DPP?
A Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a lifestyle change program for people who are prediabetic to reduce the risk of developing diabetes in the future by building new, healthy habits surrounding nutrition and physical activity.
