Our Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Program offers training and assistance to new and experienced CHWs across Arkansas.
As part of our program, partnering employers co-sponsor new CHWs as field-placement trainees or apprentices. Trainees are required to complete 160 hours of tailored education and 1 year of on-the-job training with their registered field-placement site.
Program Details
160 hours of Classroom Education
- 80 hours of initial coursework in a two-week class, provided both in-person and through telelearning from your work-site
- 80 hours of continued education to be completed over the 12-month training period
Learn while you earn:
- 2,000 hours (1 year) of on-the-job training
- Trainee’s full salary to be covered by employer
Training costs are covered by the CHW Training & Apprenticeship Program
- Includes tuition, technology costs, and lodging for in-person training
A CHWTAP Mentor will be assigned to each CHW Trainee to support them in their position.
Wrap around services may be provided to assist trainees.
