The Republic of the Marshall Islands Ministry of Health & Human Services (MoHHS) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) are proud to jointly share a quarterly update of the Jaruki Ejmour Eo Mokta Faith-Based Diabetes Self-Management Education (FDSME) Study. This long-standing and impactful joint collaboration between MoHHS and UAMS, alongside key community partners — Kõrā in Jiban Lolorjake Ejmour (KIJLE), Marshallese Educational Initiatives (MEI), and the Canvasback Wellness Center — represents a powerful model of partnership grounded in shared commitment to addressing the growing burden of diabetes in the Marshall Islands.
The study team has recruited and signed letters of agreement with the following eight churches in the Marshall Islands for its fourth and final year of the study:
- Ejit Island United Church of Christ
- Rita United Church of Christ
- Jenrok Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
- Laura Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
- Delap First Assembly of God Marshallese Ministry
- Delap Marshallese Pentecostal Church
- Makkije Kitwon Jitob Kwojarjar Church
- Delap First Bukot Nan Jesus International Church.
